Meet Harry

About Harry

Harry was born in the small village of Thathi Bhai (Moga), India, to parents who served as schoolteachers in their native village for over 30 years and earned great respect in their community. A secular man who respects all religions, Harry completed Grade 10 in his village, Grade 12 at Government College, Ludhiana, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Engineering from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, and a Master of Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.

He worked as a Senior Executive Engineer (Sr. Xen) in the Punjab State Electricity Board, India, for many years, delivering system improvement projects and earning a strong reputation among colleagues and the public. One of his first achievements was providing his native village with 24-hour electricity. Known as a capable administrator, Harry preferred to get work done through respectful requests and cooperation—but never hesitated to take firm action when necessary.

Seeking a better future and stronger governance, Harry moved to Canada and has lived in Ward 5, NE Calgary, for over 14 years. He currently works as an engineer, while his wife is a schoolteacher who often volunteers to teach Punjabi classes at the Genesis Centre in NE Calgary. Their children received a good education and are now working. Harry is deeply committed to the welfare of the community. Harry is always grateful to God, his parents, family, relatives, supporters, and friends for their continuous support.

In recent years, however, the situation in NE Calgary—especially Ward 5—has been deteriorating. Law and order are declining, cleanliness is worsening, and the ward is increasingly neglected by the city. Harry cannot stand by and watch this decline. We came to Canada for a better governing system; otherwise, we could have stayed in our home countries.

Now free from family responsibilities and equipped with extensive administrative experience, Harry is ready to serve the community full-time. With the cooperation of city officials and the support of Ward 5 residents, he is committed to restoring law and order, improving services, and making Ward 5 a cleaner, safer, and better place to live.

  –   That is why Harry is running for Ward 5 Councillor.
